You’ve got to hand it to anti-Conservatives: they lose with no dignity— and win with even less.
Last Tuesday, I’m sorry to say, my father lost his bid for Polk County Property Appraiser. As befits a Christian and a Conservative, he lost with dignity— and so did his supporters, like me. And the other side? Well…
The results had barely come out when a heckler posted, on our campaign’s Facebook page, an angry rant along the lines of, “So what happened to ‘When we win’???” (Never mind Dad did not count his chickens like that— at least, not as much as the average candidate…) “Guess now you’ve learned your lesson that smearing and lying about your opponent doesn’t work!” (A look at that heckler’s own page told me all I needed to know— she was a hypocrite, in that regard, obsessed with taking Dad down.) You get the idea.
I made it a point to ban the heckler from the page— and here, I will take the high road and not call her out by name. But thinking about the incident fills me with bitter amusement: I might understand being a sore loser, maybe— but… a sore winner? Honestly— it was hard to tell whether the post was a gloat or a whine. Either way, “good sportsmanship” didn’t seem to be her forte.
It actually reminded me of what happened after Obama won, back in ’08. The attentive may recall the incident when the new president brought together the Republican leaders all together, ostensibly to “hear ideas from the other side”. He then proceeded to shut them up with a big “I won”— and showed them the door. Ever since then, the Left’s become obsessed with blaming the “hyper-partisanship” in Washington on… the Republicans. All the while, Obama constantly failed to even give a listening ear to the GOP (recall my very first article, on this site).
So… the war rages on. Sometimes, it gets ugly. Sometimes… it gets violent.
I’m referring to the recent attack on the headquarters of the Family Research Council by a gay activist who was carrying (I kind you not) a big bagful of Chik-Fil-A sandwiches. The guy announced, “I don’t like your politics!”— and proceeded to go all Columbine, gunning down innocent people until a guard took him down. (Telling moment: the Christian guard didn’t kill the slime-ball.)
Other than dropping a pathetic line, the guy used political disagreement to justify an attempt at mass murder? Okay— I think it’s safe to say who the hate-filled bigot is, in this story.
Apparently… not to the mainstream media. First— for the most part, the press barely mentioned the incident. Only Fox News (and, of course, the openly Conservative news sites like The Blaze) actually gave more than a passing mention to it.
Second… there’s the Southern Poverty Law Center, who has self-righteously labeled the FRC as a “hate group”— grouping them with the Klan, the New Black Panthers, and the Nation of Islam. Why? Because the FRC dares to proclaim that homosexuality is a morally wrong lifestyle, and that marriage is between a man and a woman. Oh— and for their part, the Center smugly shrugged off the shooter’s motivations, muttering that there were “unconfirmed reports that the shooting was ideologically motivated.”
Okay, let’s recap: a guy tries to gun down a group he doesn’t agree with. Who’s the hater, here?
I think the chicken sandwiches are telling. The guy was giving the impression that he was ticked off at the Left’s major defeat over the attempted boycott of Chik-Fil-A— the backfire that proved once and for all that the bullies are powerless, if Americans are unafraid, and come together, and stand up for what they believe in.
So, the would-be mass murderer shows up to send a frankly pathetic message— and a disgusting one. And the media gives a collective yawn: after all, the target was a Conservative group! They’re a bunch of haters, anyway— they probably deserved it! Same goes for the Black Panthers’ voter intimidation— oh, we must understand their plight, because of what “their people” went through! (MLK would not be amused.)
Meanwhile, every single abortion-clinic bomber gets mass coverage— and the Right is called upon to denounce them. Double standard? Dang right.
Don’t count chickens, folks. This war ain’t over, yet.
